Taking Care of Damage to Your Building
Damaged Roof
- Cover with tarp or plastic sheeting to prevent further damage.
- If the ceiling in any room looks unstable (e.g. damp spots or cracks) remove as much contents from the room as possible. Cover up anything that cannot be moved.
- Get an estimate for repair from a contractor and bring it to us.
- Arrange for the repairs to be made. We will send a loss adjuster to inspect the damage as soon as possible.
- Look for any further damage that you may have missed.
Broken Window
- Board up window or cover with plastic sheeting.
- Get an estimate for repair and bring it to us.

- Look for any further damage that you have missed.
Fallen Ceiling
- Once roof has been covered, have debris removed from fallen ceiling.
- Assess any damage caused by fallen ceiling.
- Take steps to prevent further damage by covering up furniture, appliances, cabinets, etc.
- Bring us estimate for repair and arrange to have it done as soon as possible.
Fallen Trees or Branches
- Not covered if there is no actual damage to the building or its surrounding structures (boundary walls etc.). Homeowners must arrange for debris to be cleared at their own expense.
- If tree or branches have damaged structure, remove them or contact a tree-felling service to do so and follow the steps above.
